Caltrans Removing Some SMC Parking Spots For Safety Project

Crews will remove some parking spots along State Route 82 as they work to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists in several cities.

BELMONT, CA — Some parking spots are being removed on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) across various cities in San Mateo County to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, Caltrans says.

Red curbs, designating no-parking zones, are being added at crosswalks to make it easier for those waiting to cross to see approaching traffic, according to a Caltrans announcement Friday.

The safety enhancement project will affect areas in Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Daly City, Colma and one location in unincorporated San Mateo County near Colma and Daly City.
