Fire Near Train Tracks In San Mateo County Shuts Down Roadway: Police

The fire was reported around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

BELMONT, CA — A fire near the train tracks closed down Old County Road to traffic Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The Belmont Police Department issued an alert at 2:43 p.m. that there was a fire near the train tracks close to the intersection of Old County Road and Marine View, and that the fire department was responding.

At 3:47 p.m, police said the fire had been extinguished and there were no threats to occupied dwellings but that the road remained closed.

Police said no injuries were reported and the only damage was to some containers.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, police said.

The clean up was completed and the roadway was opened at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
