Get Hooked on Knitting at the Belmont Library

A new knitting and crocheting club is forming at the Belmont Library on Wednesday evenings. All the cool people knit!

Knitting clubs,  stitching circles, sweater surgery, 'stitch and bitch' books, knitting 'bombs'--yarn and needles are everywhere and it's clear the recent revival of knitting and crocheting is here to stay.

And the Belmont Library is getting in on the fun.

On Wednesday evenings this summer, the library will host "Needles & Hooks Club: A Knitting and Crocheting Group." The group's instructor is Olivia Cortez-Figueroa who both crochets and knits. The instructor says her favorite things to stitch are scarves and afghans because she doesn't have to worry about gauge.

Cortez-Figueroa is a member of several online knitting forums and plans to invite guest visitors such as the editor of Crochet Magazine.

The group, which meets at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday, is open to the public. For more information, go to http://www.smcl.org/en/events.

The Belmont Library is located at 1110 Alameda de las Pulgas. For more information, call 650.591.8286, or go to http://www.smcl.org/content/belmont.
