Human Remains Found At San Mateo County Park: Report
Police closed the park earlier in the day but did not specify the reason.
BELMONT, CA — Police in Belmont closed down a park earlier Thursday and, according to a report from KTVU, a law enforcement source said that human remains were found.
The Belmont Police Department announcedat 6:23 a.m. on Thursday that the Twin Pines Park the Buckeye Playground was closed for an investigation.
"There is no threat to public safety and we are hoping to reopen the park by mid afternoon. Thank you for your patience." police said.

Police have not released much information on the investigation but a source told KTVU that human remains were found and "that investigators believe it may Native American in origin."
Public crews have been at the park throughout the week to restore the creek as park of a city project.

Construction was underway and heavy machinery was seen at the park.
The park has since been reopened, police said.
