Man Investigated For Recent Arsons By Police In San Mateo County
The police said they arrested a man who they suspect set a fire in a building.
BELMONT, CA — Police said they arrested a 58-year-old man Thursday only minutes after he set a small fire to a building in Belmont and are now investigating to see if he is responsible for other arson attempts in recent weeks.
The Belmont Police Department has not released the name of the man they said they caught right after he set a small fire to a building in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue.

The fire was discovered within minutes and extinguished, police said.

The BPD is working with the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department to determine if the man is tied to other arson attempts that have occurred in recent weeks, police said.
