Man Killed In Crash With Tour Bus On Highway 101

The fatal weekend crash involved at least four vehicles, including a charter bus carrying a famed choir.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A 51-year-old man killed in a pileup involving a tour bus that closed U.S. Highway 101 in Brisbane for nearly eight hours Saturday morning has been identified as Kenneth Dwayne Bishop, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.

The crash was reported around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, just south of Sierra Point Parkway in Brisbane.

The fatal crash involved at least four vehicles, including a charter bus carrying a famed choir known as the Aeolians of Oakwood University.

The bus was operated by Peninsula Tours, and carrying 18 passengers at the time. Several of them suffered minor injuries, but the choir still managed to perform a free concert Sunday evening at the Third Street Baptist Church of San Francisco.

The Oakwood choir was founded by the late Eva B. Dykes in 1946 at a historically black university in Huntsville Alabama. It's known for a wide range of performance styles.

Bishop, a San Mateo resident, was in one of the other vehicles involved in the crash.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol were not immediately available to provide additional information about the cause of the crash.
