Measure R Wins Big

The measure passed by over 71 percent.

Needing 66.7 percent of the vote to pass, Measure R, the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District parcel tax cruised to a victory Tuesday evening with 71.38 percent of the vote. 

The final count was 4,253 YES, to 1,705 NO.

Measure R is a renewal of two existing school parcel taxes, combined into one payment of $174 per parcel per year. Funds from Measure R would be used to maintain existing local school funding.

The 10-year parcel tax will start July 1, 2015.
