Photo of the Day: Steller's Jay in Autumn

What a stunning contrast of colors!

Thank you to Patch reader Marianne Bush for sharing this amazing photo taken of a Steller's Jay in Belmont's Twin Pines Park.

According to AllAboutBirds.org, the the Steller's Jay is a jay native to western North America, closely related to the Blue Jay found in the rest of the continent, but with a black head and upper body. Graceful and almost lazy in flight, they fly with long swoops on their broad, rounded wings.

If you have a shot you'd like featured as our "photo of the day," simply email it to the editor at joan.dentler@patch.com.

Thank you Marianne!
