Police Give OK to Non-Profit for Annual Door-to-Door Canvass
Clean Water Action will be conducting a door-to-door campaign in Belmont in April and May.
The Belmont Police Department has released a courtesy notification to residents regarding a legitimate non-profit group what will be ringing doorbells throughout the city in April and May as part of their annual outreach.
Police say they have given permission to Clean Water Action, a non-profit group and environmental lobby to do their annual canvass in Belmont over the next six weeks.
The group will be conducting a door-to-door campaign, which includes fundraising for their lobbying efforts. Canvassers will be out Monday through Friday from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Canvassers will carry Clean Water Action identification with them.
In recent weeks, police have responded to several burglaries in the Central, Cipriani and Plateau/Skymont neighborhoods, during which the suspect(s) knock on the door of the victim's home, and if no answer, will go to a side or rear door and force entry. Residents are on heightened awareness following these burglaries, so police want to assure everyone that the Clean Water Action canvassers have permission to be in the neighborhoods.
