SMC Hosts Gun Buyback Event This Weekend In Belmont

The next gun buyback event will give residents a chance to exchange unwanted firearms for cash with no questions asked.

BELMONT, CA — Peninsula residents will have a chance this weekend to offload unwanted firearms with no questions asked during a gun buyback event outside the Human Services Agency building in Belmont.

The gun buyback program is a partnership between the Board of Supervisors, Citizens for a San Mateo County Gun Buyback, the police chiefs of Belmont, Redwood City, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park, and the San Mateo County Sheriff.

Law enforcement members will be on hand to facilitate the exchange of guns for cash, and residents are asked to bring their firearms unloaded and placed in the trunk of their vehicle. Payments range from $50 to $200, and homemade guns will be evaluated for value during the event, officials said.
