$10,000 Reward Offered in Long Beach Murder

Board of Supervisors Votes Tuesday to fund incentive for anyone with information leading to an arrest in the September 2011 shooting of a non-gang member on a city street.

The Board of Supervisors approved a $10,000 reward today for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Long Beach man.

Last Sept. 18, Tony Craig Bowman Calloway was shot by someone on foot-one ore more suspects -- as the teenager stood with a group of people on the sidewalk in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue in Long Beach. The shots were fired from the southeast corner of Locust and Eagle streets.

Calloway died of his wounds at a hospital. Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, who represents Long Beach in county government, recommended the reward. He noted that Calloway was not a gang member. He noted that investigators believe that his killer or killers are in a gang. Investigators believe that a reward might prompt reluctant witnesses to come forward, and such witnesses may remain anonymous.
