Alamitos Bay Marina Free Shuttle Bus Service Arrives

The City of Long Beach is pleased to announce free shuttle bus service for the Alamitos Bay Marina, starting Friday evening, November 11, 2016.

“This exciting new service will increase accessibility for patrons of the businesses at the Alamitos Bay Landing by providing more convenient connections with a variety of parking options,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

The Alamitos Bay Marina Shuttle Bus Service will run Friday to Sunday evenings, from 5:00 pm to midnight, and will make at least four stops every 20 minutes. The stops are marked with signs.

“Providing this service is a great solution to help alleviate traffic congestion in the area and support the thriving businesses, especially during their peak hours of operation,” said Councilwoman Suzie Price.

The shuttle route will serve the Marina Drive corridor, between 2nd Street and Alamitos Bay Landing. The shuttle bus complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), is powered by natural gas, and is environmentally friendly.

The shuttle service is funded by Proposition A and will be free for a one-year trial period. Proposition A, approved by voters in 1980, is a one-half of one percent tax on most retail sales in Los Angeles County, which cities can use for certain transportation purposes. If the Alamitos Bay Marina Shuttle Bus Service trial program is successful, the service may potentially be extended at the end of the one-year trial period.
