Fashion Show Features 3,000 Pounds of Weight Loss

Models who have lost a collective 3,000 pounds in weight will celebrate their healthy achievement with a fashion show Saturday night hosted by the St. Mary Medical Center Surgical Treatment of Obestiy.

According to organizers, the show will feature between 25 and 30 models who will celebrate their difficult journey away from obesity. The hospital said that featured model alone has lost 282 pounds.

During the show, organizers said invited guests will get to see before and after photos of the models and learn about their struggles with obesity before their weight loss.

"Surgery is just the beginning," organizers said. "It is the nutrition and exercise that is most critical afterwards."

Guests will also learn how the models have controlled type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, depression, heart disease and more.

St. Mary Medical Center is hosting the event, which coincides with March's National Nutrition Month.
