Long Beach Woman Killed in Rollover Crash in Signal Hill ID'd

Long Beach firefighters extricated Teresita Meza from the wreckage and took her to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where she died.

SIGNAL HILL, CA - Authorities on Monday identified a Long Beach woman who was fatally injured when the SUV she was driving collided with another vehicle and overturned on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Signal Hill.

The crash involving a 2003 GMC Envoy and a 2005 Chevrolet sedan occurred about 10:30 a.m. Sunday north of Orange Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. Teresita Meza, 41, died at a hospital, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Arriving officers found the victim's 2003 GMC Envoy on its roof, with its occupants trapped inside. Long Beach firefighters extricated them from the wreckage and took them to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where Meza was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 23-year-old Crystal Galves of Lakewood, suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP, which reported that there were no signs that alcohol use was a factor in the collision.
