Magnolia Tree on Park: Should it Stay or Should it Go?

City-owned and in public turf, the resident wants it removed to replace with drought-tolerant landscaping while some wish it preserved.

A mature, flowering Belmont Shore area Magnolia Tree on the public right of way on Park Ave. just south of 2nd St. has become the focus of neighborhood controversy that has escalated into a City appeal process that will be heard later today (Thurs. May 19) at a public meeting of LB's "Street Tree Advisory Committee" at 6:00 p.m. at the City of Long Beach's Public Service Bureau, 1651 San Francisco Ave. (east bank of L.A.
