Missing: Friendly Pet Ferret Baloo
The Smith family has canvassed Belmont Heights with fliers seeking help for five days, but he will not survive much longer without food, they fear.
A beloved pet Ferret named Baloo has been missing five days from his family's Belmont Heights home, and they said Saturday night that he won't survive much longer without food. The family is heartbroken and wants residents to know it is safe to pick up Baloo, who doesn't bite.
How could we say no to a note like this:
"My name is Emma Smith, I live on Quincy in the Heights. My family and I have a the sweetes pet Ferret named Baloo. My husband and I have looked everywhere and posted flyers, but we have not heard anything.

"We are so worried that he is lost and scared in this big worId. I was hoping you could post a lost ferret article. Hopefully one of your readers has found Baloo and is wondering who he belongs to.
"Baloo is wearing a blue collar with a leash. He is champagne and tan colored. He is very domesticated and can be held and will not bite."

The night of June 27, at about 10 p.m., Baloo escaped out of a window and the family thinks he headed north from the 200 block of Quincy.
"I heard him russling in the bushes," said Emma Smith. "We used to live on the Toledo in an upstairs apartment, [and] when he got out there, he had gone upstairs to another apartment down the way and scratched at the door. Yet we recently moved and he is not familiar with this area. But I am hoping he has found a nice door to scratch at."
