Missing Long Beach Woman in Pig Tails Sought

Police ask public's help in locating the 74-year-old woman with memory and medical conditions.

Police are searching for a 74-year-old woman with medical problems for which she is undergoing treatment, who was last seen at her North Long Beach home near Market Street and Long Beach Boulevard Sunday morning.

A Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman said family members fear Sandra Mata, who disappeared about 8:30 a.m. has memory loss and she may appear unstable.

Spokeswoman Lisa Massacani said Mata is described as 5 feet 2, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair typically tied back in braided pigtails or worn in a bun style. She was wearing a light pink polo shirt, a burgundy velvet sweatshirt and black sweat pants. Mata speaks Spanish and often tells people she is going to Honduras.

Anyone who sees Mata should call Long Beach police dispatch at (562) 435- 6711, Massacani said.
