Murder Arrest at 7th and P.C.H.

Officer reportedly spots the vehicle of alleged slayer, 19, in motel parking lot.

A teenager was arrested today at Seventh and Pacific Coast Highway in the slaying of another teen in the Florence area.

Victor Ayala, 19, was taken into custody about 8:30 a.m. at the Motel 6 at that intersection and booked on suspicion of murder, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept. said. Authorities went to the East Long Beach motel after an officer spotted Ayala's vehicle parked there. Ayala allegedly shot a 17-year-old boy shortly after midnight Sunday, in the 1100 block of East 68th Street, in the Florence area of unincorporated Los Angeles County.

The victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, later died at a hospital, the coroner's office said.
