New Docudrama Features Long Beach Lifeguards

The Weather Channel's "Lifeguard!' has at least two episodes featuring our local rescuers along the waterfront. But be warned: danger lurks! There is a very "explosive situation" to be handled!

A new docudrama on The Weather Channel, set to debut next week, shares with the world the many challenges Southern California lifeguards face on a daily basis—from dangerously large waves to sand traps.

The reality TV series "Lifeguard!" premieres Feb. 23 at 9 p.m., according to The Weather Channel’s website, which describes the show as set along one of the most famous coastlines in the world, including Long Beach and stretching from Malibu to San Diego.

In one of the upcoming season's episodes, Long Beach is where "danger unfolds" at a boat launch, and in Huntington Beach, lifeguards respond to "multiple reports of people missing in the water," according to the online episode guide.
