Public Welcome at Nate Dogg's L.B. Service

Funeral for rapper and Long Beach native Nathaniel Hale is Saturday beside the Queen Mary.

Hip-hop rapper Nate Dogg's funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday (March 26) and will be open to the public, AOL reports.

The singer/rapper died last week (March 15) at age 41 in his hometown of Long Beach, where some of his family still works or lives. He had been suffering health problems since a series of strokes befell him a few years back. He was born Nathaniel Dwayne Hale.

The funeral service will take place at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, which is in view of the Queen Mary in downtown. His sister Pamela Hale-Burns told the Long Beach Press Telegram that although the service will be open to the public, no cameras will be allowed into the venue.

Strict security measures will be enforced at the doors.

Eminem was among those who paid tribute to Nate, saying that he was among those who "created the blueprint for West Coast hip-hop." Snoop Dogg, Nate's cousin, paid tribute to him at his recent South By Southwest festival show in Austin.
