Burlingame Criterium Road Closures
The Burlingame Criterium rolls into town this weekend.
The 25th Burlingame Criterium rolls into town this Sunday and with it comes road closures in the downtown area.
Burlingame Avenue, Lorton Avenue, Primrose Road, Belleview Avenue, Howard Avenue and Park Road will all be closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The Criterium attracts hundred of bicyclists from throughout Northern California for one of the only downtown criteriums in the area--most are done on standard four-corner courses.

"We're pretty unique that we've survived this long," said Race Director Travis Ma. "[It's] just one of those staples of the local area."
Ma said a criterium is different from other bike races in that it is a bit less than a mile and riders bike for 40 minutes to an hour. At the end of the time period, the winner is called after one final lap.

Prizes are given for the winners and also for the first rider to cross the finish line during certain laps.
