Burlingame Lions Club Donates $5K to Kids Reading

The $5,000 donations will go towards summer reading programs for children.

At their weekly lunch meeting Thursday, members of the Burlingame Lions Club presented a check for $5,000 to the Burlingame Library Foundation in support of the Summer Children's Reading Program.

Burlingame Librarian Pat Harding accepted the donation. The funds come from the Nancy Lechich Memorial Trust, which memorializes Nancy Lehich--the late wife of a former City librarian--through support of children's reading programs.

The Children's Reading Program includes story times, which had attendance of more than 10,000 children total last year, and book buddies, which pairs elementary students and teenagers to read together.
