About 100 Girl Scouts and their families gathered Monday night at Burlingame City Hall, anxiously awaiting the arrival of 7:12 p.m., officially marking the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.
“It’s a wonderful night tonight celebrating,” said Vice Mayor Ann Keighran, a former Girl Scout, while addressing the crowd. “Treasure the moments you have in your Girl Scout troops.”
The troops led a celebratory ceremony that included the Girl Scout Promise, the Girl Scout Law, the Pledge of Allegiance, songs and a statement of purpose. They told the story of the first Girl Scout meeting in Georgia 100 years ago before counting down the seconds to 7:12 p.m.
