HILLSBOROUGH, CA — A man was arrested in connection with two home burglaries that occurred over the weekend in Hillsborough, according to police.

The first happened around 6:45 p.m. Saturday when an alarm went off in the 3200 block of Ralston Avenue and officers arrived to find the suspects gone, a glass door broken and the residence ransacked, police said.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a reported burglary in the 2500 block of Butternut Drive, where security footage captured three people prying open a rear sliding glass door, according to police, who said the second home was also ransacked.

The footage connected the trio to a 2000s model white Jeep Cherokee with a stolen license plate, police said.

Menlo Park police saw a Cherokee that matched the description of the suspect vehicle Monday night and stopped it on Interstate 280 at Woodside Road, taking the driver — a 31-year-old man who said he was from Colombia — into custody, according to authorities. The man was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, police said.
