Increased Law Enforcement Planned For Peninsula
The operation, known as Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program, will focus on seatbelt violations.

BURLINGAME, CA -- Officers from various agencies throughout San Mateo County will increase enforcement Wednesday in an effort to increase traffic and safety awareness in known troubled spots. The operation, known as Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program, will focus on seatbelt violations that occur in the Peninsula from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The San Mateo County Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association are working together to collectively focus on reducing the number of injuries and traffic collisions throughout San Mateo County. Redwood City and Woodside residents may notice that there are police officers from throughout San Mateo County enforcing safety violations, in their respective communities, officials said in an announcement.
In 2016, there were 10,428 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States. The national seat belt use rate is at 87 percent, officials said.
