Kids Hike With Creepy, Crawly Critters

Kids are invited on a Bug Hike this weekend in Mills Canyon.

The Friends of Mills Canyon are hosting a special walk this weekend just for kids—and the six-legged critters on the trail.

The Bug Hike takes place Saturday, June 9 at 9:45 a.m. The hike features Shannon Gibbs, who will teach the young hikers to listen and look at nature in new ways. Gibbs earned a bachelor's degree in Entomology from the University of Florida and has spent the past 18 years teaching environmental science. She is the current master gardener for the UC Cooperative Extension in San Mateo and San Francisco counties and owns Fog City Landscape.

Kids 7 and under are invited to discover these small, multi-legged critters on the trail while learning how they interact with the larger ecosystem.
