From Peninsula Girls Chorus: Peninsula Girls Chorus, which has been providing a comprehensive choral experience for girls on the Peninsula since 1994, has announced its spring auditions to be held on Saturday, April 22; Thursday, June 8; and Saturday, June 10. All auditions will be held in Burlingame, and advance registration is required.

No prior experience is required. Interested singers should download the audition information packet, and sign up for an audition, at the Peninsula Girls Chorus website at http://www.peninsulagirlschorus.org/auditions.html. A hard copy packet may also be requested by calling the office at (650) 347-6351 and leaving a message with a name, phone number, the singer’s age, and a mailing address. With over 220 girls in the program, Peninsula Girls Chorus groups girls into six choirs: Repertoire (ages 6-8), Allegra (ages 8-10), Brava (ages 10-13), Concerta (ages 11-15), Ensemble (ages 14 and up), and Coastside (ages 10-12, in Half Moon Bay). Choristers learn the basics of music literacy, sight-reading skills, and proper breath and vocal techniques; and as they progress, move on to creating complex choral tone, and learning more challenging three- and four-part harmonies.

Each choir performs in the Spring Concerts (this year, being held on June 3 and 4). In July 2017, the Peninsula Girls Chorus will also be participating in an International Tour to Sydney, Australia, where they will be part of the Australian International Music Festival, and perform a solo concert at the Sydney Opera House.
