Burlingame residents participated in National Night Out for the first time Tuesday night.

Although Tuesday night marked the 28th Annual National Night Out, it was the first time Burlingame residents participated in the crime and drug prevention event.

Residents throughout the community hosted neighborhood gatherings. Police rotated around the parties and spent time patrolling Burlingame Avenue and Broadway to encourage crime prevention education.

Burlingame Patch, along with about 20 neighbors, Vice Mayor Jerry Deal, Central County Fire Chief Don Dornell, Burlingame Police Chief Ed Wood and about a dozen other fire and police personnel, stopped by a block party hosted by John and Mary Martos of Victoria Road.
