Police Blotter: Late Night Blowtorching and Coffee Dispute

Thursday, Feb. 9

1:33 a.m. There was a report of a male using a blowtorch on the 1400 block of Howard Avenue. It turned out to be a contractor putting in a dryer vent.

10:12 a.m. A stolen Honda Accord was found on the 1000 block of Carolan Avenue.

7:06 p.m. A lawnmower was stolen from the 1000 block of Toyon Drive.

Friday, Feb. 10

7:01 a.m. A car window was smashed on the 2600 block of Martinez Drive, but no items were reported missing from the vehicle.

7:30 p.m. A couple driving a gray Vespa scooter were seen drinking at a bar at Broadway and California Drive.

9:54 p.m. Recycling was stolen from the 900 block of Howard Avenue.

Saturday, Feb. 11

1:02 a.m. There was a report of suspicious activity on the 2100 block of Trousdale Drive. The subject was contacted, and said he was walking to a friend's house.

3:26 p.m. A juvenile was detained for shoplifting on the 1300 block of Burlingame Avenue. The store manager did not press charges, and the child was released to parents.

4:32 p.m. There was a report of thick smoke coming from a chimney on the 1200 block of Paloma Avenue. Contact was made, and residents said it was a controlled fire burning safely in the fireplace.

Sunday, Feb. 12

12:39 a.m. There was a noise complaint on the 1900 block of Hillside Drive. Juveniles were playing basketball and advised of the noise.

9:09 a.m. A subject was sleeping on the sidewalk with his feet extending into roadway at El Camino Real and Trousdale Drive. He was waiting for the bus and sent on his way.

10:14 p.m. Two roommates had a verbal fight on the 900 block of Chula Vista Avenue when one spilled coffee on a new mattress.
