School Board to Discuss Transfer Policy
At its Tuesday meeting, the Burlingame School District Board of Trustees will discuss the interdistrict transfer policy.

The Burlingame School District Board of Trustees is expected to adopt the Interdistrict Attendance Board Policy at its meeting Tuesday night for the 2011-2012 school year.
The policy has previously been discussed at the May 10 and June 14 meetings, and a revised policy is now awaiting board approval.
Due to current and future increases in district enrollment, board members are concerned about space in neighborhood schools. Under the policy, no new interdistrict transfer will be able to displace a student residing in a school’s attendance area.

The board will consider transfers on an individual basis as space allows. Transfers to the Burlingame School District will be considered if the student is a continuing interdistrict transfer, has a sibling attending the school, has a parent employed with the district, has parents who have moved out of the district during the school year or receives childcare in a given district.
Transfers will not be considered for a student with an expulsion from another district, two or more suspension during the school year, poor attendance, behavioral problems, or less than satisfactory academic performance.
