The Burlingame Rays 99G team finished in seventh place among 92 teams that entered into the Norcal State Cup Championship in the U12 age group. Making it to the coveted top eight bracket means that the Rays 99G are one of the top teams in Northern California. The Rays got to the quarter-finals undefeated, and played some hard-fought games through the semi-finals and finals. Look here for the quarter-final, semi-final and final round results of the tournament.

The girls have much to be proud of. The team came together in Spring 2011 and had great showing in tournament and league games throughout the year. This State Cup result is a stepping stone to more achievements on the horizon.

The team will now take some well-deserved time off and then kick it back into gear for spring. The Rays will be participating in many top California tournaments, including at least two in Southern California. Five of the Rays will also continue in the Norcal PDP (Player Development Program)  player identification program Regional pool.

About the 99G Rays

The Rays are coached by Luciano Fusco. The objective is to establish a good foundation for the girls and facilitate future developmental stages. Coach Luciano places player and team development above winning. Players are encouraged to take risks in their game without the fear of losing.

Additionally, the Rays practice and play at facilities that include different playing surfaces – futsal flooring, turf and grass – while using varying pieces of soccer equipment that provide a broad spectrum of learning and conditioning opportunities. To learn more about the team, look here.

The Rays welcome talented players to tryout and join the team. The team consists of girls with birthdates between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000. If your player’s birthdate falls in this age range, please email alliance99g@gmail.com to inquire about participating in an upcoming practice. The Rays also welcome sponsorships for the team. BSC is a 501-3(c), and any contributions to the Rays are tax-deductible.
