Students Starving For a Cause
Students are showing their support for stopping world hunger during a 30-hour fast.
Teens from the and beyond will join thousands of their peers across the world this month in drawing attention to world hunger during a 30-Hour Famine.
For 30 hours on February 24 and 25, these teens will participate in community service projects, social justice discussions and other activities while refraining from eating.
“By going hungry, participants get a taste of what 925 million people in our world face every day,” said Ray Medina, associate youth director for First Presbyterian Church in a statement. “It’s an eye-opening experience for all of us, teens and adults.”
The event is sponsored by World Vision, a global relief nonprofit organization.
The event is open to all kids in grades 8 through 12 in San Mateo County. First Presbyterian Church teens have been involved in the 30-Hour Famine for the best 10 years.
