Week Ahead: Council to Discuss Rail, Art in Park

What's on tap for this week? Keep an eye out for these events and stories this week. We'll be there to cover them.

  • The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday. Police Chief Ed Wood will be sworn in before the council discusses issues such as High Speed Rail and a land swap between the City and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
  • Burlingame Intermediate School will host Special Event Day Tuesday. The theme of the day will be announced Monday. Past themes have included Career Day and Multicultural Day.
  • The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory and Traffic, Safety and Parking Commission meetings scheduled for Thursday have been cancelled.
  • The San Mateo County Heroes breakfast will take place Thursday at Poplar Creek Grill. Burlingame resident Charles Simons, a crossing guard in Burlingame, will be honored for saving the life of a child when a driver lost control of his car.
  • The Peninsula Cities Consortium will meet Friday at 8:15 a.m. in the Menlo Park Council Chambers. Members will discuss recent High Speed Rail Authority actions.
  • Burlingame's Art in the Park, a weekend of art, music, food and family fun, takes place in Washington Park this Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Burlingame Library Summer Patio Book Sale is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
