White House Replica Sells For $23 Million In Bay Area

The 1915 residence from architect Julia Morgan is known as the "Western White House" and was initially listed at just under $39 million.

HILLSBOROUGH, CA — A Hillsborough home bearing a remarkable resemblace to the White House recently sold for $23 million, according to Zillow.

The 1915 residence by architect Julia Morgan is known as the “Western White House,” according to the Buljan Group, which handled the sale. The four-story home sits on a 2.9-acre lot and features 11 bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms across more than 24,000 square feet, according to the listing.

“With its Neoclassical Georgian architecture, the home greets you with majestic columns and an impeccably laid driveway, the facade exuding grandeur,” the listing said.

While quite large, the home is not even half the size of the actual White House, where the ground, state and residence floors combined are around 55,000 square feet, according to the White House Historical Association. That number does not include the West or East Wings, according to the association.

The Hillsborough home was listed for sale in June 2023 at nearly $39 million, less than a year after selling in September 2022 for $15 million, according to Zillow.
