Chase Ends On 101 Freeway In Calabasas; Suspect Shot Dead: Report

The subject of a car chase that started in Ventura County died after being shot by authorities on the 101 Freeway, The LA Times reported.

CALABASSAS, CA — A domestic violence suspect was reportedly shot and killed at the end of a car chase on the 101 Freeway in Calabasas, reports say.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Ventura County deputies responded to the domestic violence incident in Camarillo around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The suspect was considered armed and dangerous and was wanted on a warrant, the Times reported.

A car chase that ensued ended when the suspect crashed into a guardrail at southbound Las Virgenes road, according to the Times. California Highway Patrol officers were communicating with the man at that point and asked him to surrender.

According to the Times, sometime between noon and 12:30, law enforcement officials fired on the man.

Northbound and southbound lanes of the highway were closed for an extended period as a result.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office responded to assist with an officer-involved shooting. The sheriff's office said an adult male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide bureau investigators from the sheriff's office are investigating.
