Firefighters continue to work on hotspots around the fire, but the blaze is holding at 10 acres.
CALABASAS, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a 10-acre grass fire burning in Calabasas Wednesday morning amid strong winds that have first-responders across Southern California on high alert. The second alarm assignment was cancelled as firefighters on scene continue to work on hotspots around the fire, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
County firefighters quickly responded to the Mureau Fire, which was reported at 10:43 a.m. on the north side of the 101 Freeway between Las Virgenes and Mureau Road. The flames were initially running uphill and threatening structures in Calabasas and Hidden Hills.
Shortly after 11 a.m., the spread of the fire had been halted at about 10 acres and the second alarm was canceled, officials said. Crews continued working on spot fires to completely put out the blaze.
