Fire Burns 6 Acres Near 101 Freeway Over The Weekend (Watch)

A fire burned near the 101 Freeway in Calabasas Saturday.

CALABASAS, CA — A wildfire burned six acres near the Ventura (101) Freeway in Calabasas Saturday as temperatures started to hike back up across Los Angeles County.

The fire broke out around 1:17 p.m. Saturday around 1:17 p.m. near Parkway Calabasas and Ventura Boulevard, just north of the freeway, according to the city of Calabasas. The temperature near the fire was around 96 degrees with a humidity level of just 18 percent, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Authorities had the fire held at six acres by 1:56 p.m. with no evacuations, according to the city of Calabasas. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

The county was warned of elevated fire risk Saturday due to hot and dry conditions, according to the National Weather Service for Los Angeles and Oxnard.
