Machete-Wielding Man Fatally Shot By Police At Calabasas Restaurant

Officers were first called to Avenue San Luis in Calabasas Wednesday when they found the suspect armed and on the run, police said.

CALABASAS, CA — Police shot and killed a man at a Calabasas restaurant Wednesday night after he apparently attacked a victim with a machete, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a series of tweets.

Officers were first called to the 23300 block of Avenue San Luis 7:38 p.m. Wednesday when they found the suspect—a white man in his 50s—now armed with a knife and on the run after apparently attacking a victim with a machete, police said. They followed him to a nearby restaurant on Calabasas Road, which was open and had many customers inside.

After multiple attempts to tase the suspect in the restaurant's parking lot failed, the suspect continued into the restaurant's patio area, at one point turning and facing the officers with the knife in hand, police said.
