Calabasas Rejects Measure N: Unofficial Election Results
Measure N would adopt a new plan allowing the addition of up to 161 new market-rate apartment units at the Avalon Calabasas property.
CALABASAS, CA — With the results yet to be certified, Measure N, the Avalon Calabasas Property Development Project Initiative, was defeated. As of Wednesday morning, 77.46 percent of voters rejected Measure N and 22.54 percent of voters were in favor of the measure in Calabasas.
A “yes” vote approved the proposed Calabasas General Plan and Municipal Code amendments and specific plan, allowing up to 161 new market-rate apartment units with specified conditions, including the requirement to set aside 80 units for affordable housing for fifty-five years, at the Avalon Calabasas apartment complex.
A “no” vote rejected the proposed expansion and its enabling proposed Calabasas General Plan and Municipal Code amendments and specific plan.

A simple majority would have approved the measure.

Measure N amends the Calabasas General Plan and Calabasas Municipal Code, and adopts a new specific plan allowing the addition of up to 161 new market-rate apartment units at the Avalon Calabasas property, as well as reserving 80 units of the complex as affordable housing, according to the City of Calabasas.
As of Jan. 3 in Los Angeles County, 88.91 percent of the 6,184,646 eligible voters were registered.
Out of the 5,498,704 total registered voters, 51.11 percent are registered Democrats, 16.81 percent are registered Republicans, 2.4 percent are registered American Independents and 0.42 percent are registered Green Party.
