Thief Followed Driver 11 Miles From Calabasas Bank Before Burglarizing His Car

A thief broke into a man's car after following him from a Calabasas bank to a Westlake Village mall, stealing a large sum of cash.

CALABASAS, CA — Deputies say a thief recently stole a large sum of money from a parked vehicle after following the driver 11 miles from a Calabasas bank to a Westlake Village shopping center.

Now, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station is asking for identifying a suspect or suspects.

The robbery occurred on July 18 just after 1 p.m. in the parking lot near BCBC Nails at the Shoppes at Westlake Village, 30750 Russell Ranch Road. The victim reported that one of the windows of his vehicle was smashed while he was parked and a "large sum" of money was stolen from the center console, according to deputies.

The man had withdrawn money from the Wells Fargo Bank in Calabasas earlier. Security cameras captured a dark Toyota RAV4 in the Wells Fargo and shopping center parking lots following the man, according to deputies.
