8-Year-Old Girl, 1 Man Dead After Apparent Murder-Suicide, Police Say

BREAKING: The tragic incident was discovered in a Capitola mall parking lot Sunday.

CAPITOLA, CA — Police are investigating what appears to be an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Sunday in a mall parking in Capitola. According to police, a woman called 911 around 3:15 p.m. that her husband was making suicidal threats from inside their family vehicle that was parked in the mall parking lot, located at 1855 41st Ave.

Upon arrival, the woman directed police to the vehicle where they discovered the 36-year-old man and his 8-year-old daughter suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Police said officers and medical personnel attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful and the two were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation and the identities of the man and his daughter are not being released at this time.
