County Felons Offered Reductions Thursday In Aptos

The 'Prop 47 Record Change and Resource Fair' in Aptos will give as many as 11,000 Santa Cruz County felons a chance to turn things around.

APTOS - Low-level felons in Santa Cruz County will have a chance Thursday afternoon to begin the process of reducing their convictions to misdemeanors based on Prop 47.

The “Prop 47 Record Change and Resource Fair” will teach attendees to learn about how to have old, low-level drug and other felonies reduced in status.

The event at Temple Beth El, 3055 Porter Gulch Rd, Aptos, is free and open to the public.

It will include over 20 different legal, health and human services, 30-minute workshops on related topics, free child care and refreshments. Spanish translation will be available.

According to promoters, there will also be a service provider training at this event from 1-2:30pm. This will include an overview of the basics of record change law, client screening/making good referrals and helping clients obtain Live Scan and records necessary for the record change process.
