Injured Soquel Driver Was in 2007 Accident That Killed Two Cousins
Man wrecks truck, charged with DUI.

A 20-year old Soquel man suffered major injuries and was charged with driving under the influence after he crashed his pickup into a tree on Highway 35 on Thursday morning—two years after he was involved in another accident that killed his two cousins.
Donovan Hicks Barclay III was driving his red 1991 Toyota pickup north on Highway 35 just south of Bayview Road when he veered off the east side of the road and hit a tree at about 12:35 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol reports. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Barclay was charged with driving under the influence and taken to Valley Medical Center in San Jose for treatment, according to CHP. The northbound lane of Highway 35 was closed for about an hour.

CHP officer Sarah Jackson said Barclay's injuries have prevented him from talking to investigators, and they have not determined where he was going or where he'd been. Jackson said CHP is working with Alcohol and Beverage Control to find out where the under-age Barclay got the alcohol.
Barclay was driving with a valid license, Jackson said.

No one was in the car with Barclay when the accident occurred, Jackson said. A witness had called to report it.
Jackson confirmed that Barclay is the same man who flipped his car in 2007, killing his two cousins.
Brothers Shane Barclay, 22, and Tyler Barclay, 17, died when Jackson flipped the 1995 Saab he was driving on Laurel Glen Road while skidding around a curve at 80 mph, according to past Santa Cruz Sentinel stories.
Barclay was prosecuted as a juvenile after that accident, so details of the case are confidential.
