Applications Open Friday For Below-Market-Rate Housing Lottery
Applications will be accepted through May 8 for 13 income-restricted condominiums.
HAYWARD, CA — The City of Hayward will open the application period on Friday for a lottery offering the opportunity to purchase one of 13 below-market-rate (BMR) condominiums at SoMi, a new residential development in South Hayward by Homes Built for America.
Applications will be accepted from March 28 through 5 p.m. on May 8, with a lottery drawing scheduled for May 20.
The available units include three three-bedroom condominiums and ten two-bedroom condominiums, all reserved for qualifying moderate- or lower-income buyers.

Income eligibility is based on Alameda County’s income limits, which define moderate income as a gross maximum annual income between $130,800 for a one-person household and $201,800 for a five-person household.
To assist prospective buyers, HouseKeys, Inc.—the BMR housing administrator for Homes Built for America—will host two informational orientations in April at the Downtown Hayward Public Library in the Fremont Bank Room.
