HAYWARD, CA — Owning a home for those with limited income just became a bit easier thanks to Meritage Homes and its expansion into Hayward offering affordable home ownership.

Mission Crossing by Meritage Homes will hold a lottery for new income restricted townhomes, the company said in news release issued by the company, Saturday, July 30.

According to the release, Mission Crossing, at 25501 Mission Boulevard, will be located on the site of the former Ford dealership at Berry Avenue, and will offer 140 townhouse-style condominiums, including 14 to be sold at below market rates at $477,416 for a two-bedroom unit and $575,311 for four bedrooms.

“Applications from moderate-income buyers or lower are being accepted until Aug. 23 to qualify for a lottery for an opportunity to buy one of Mission Crossing’s two- and four-bedroom BMR townhomes,” the release said.

Moderate income ranges from a gross maximum income of $119,950 per year for a household of one person to $185,050 a year for a household of five individuals in Alameda County, Meritage Homes said.
