Event Details
Join us on Sunday, December 21 during the 10:00am worship service as the WPC Chancel Choir presents Camille Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël. Music at Westwood presents a choral masterwork annually during Advent as part of its concert series.
Saint-Saëns composed the work in ten days and conducted its premier on December 25, 1858 from the organ at Église de la Madeleine in Paris. The music is conceived more as an oratorio and the text was derived from primarily from the Book of Luke with remaining lyrics derived from John, Isaiah, Lamentations and the Psalms. The music of Bach plays hand in the orchestral stylings but the character of the music is purely French.
Vocal soloists for this performance are Christina Borgioli (soprano), Devon Davidson (soprano), Emily Kerrigan (mezzo-soprano), Elias Berezin (tenor), Emerson Boatwright (tenor) and Matthew Lewis (bass). Dan Redfeld, Director of Music, will lead the WPC Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra. The event is FREE to the public as it is during our Sunday morning worship service. Parking is also free in the church lot.
This event is also available online. Join the livestream starting at 10:00am here.
