Cerritos Issues Warning to Residents About Rise in Unauthorized Curb Painters

Cerritos officials remind residents that the city has contracted an outside organization to repaint all addresses on public curbs for FREE.

The city of Cerritos issued a warning to residents today of an increase in unauthorized curb painters in the city.

"The city contracts with an outside organization to repaint all residential addresses on public curbs at no cost to residents," the city statement said. "Cerritos residents should not pay any curb painters who ask for a donation or payment."

If a resident would like his/her curb number re-painted, he/she should call the city's Public Works Department at (562) 407-2632.

Permission and licensing from the city of Cerritos are required before a person can paint anything on public curbs. Residents are reminded that murals, emblems and pictures of any kind are not allowed.

The city also points out that if you pay a curb painter with a check, your personal information could potentially be used for identity theft.

What Should I Do If Approached By A Non-Contracted Curb Painter?

If someone approaches you without a city-issued business license or permit and wants to paint your curb, the city asks that you please report the incident to the City’s Code Enforcement Division by calling (562) 916-1203.

If a code enforcement officer is not available, residents may contact the at (562) 860-0044 and request a deputy be sent to your location.
