Cerritos Power Outage Leaves Several Verizon Fios Customers Without Service
Were you one of dozens left without phone, internet and cable service since last Friday's power outage?

Verizon crews have had to replace battery backup units (BBU) at dozens of Cerritos residences since last Friday's massive power outage, which left several Fios customers without phone, cable and internet service for days.
Roughly 2,000 Southern California Edison customers in Cerritos were without power when an underground transformer went out near 195th Street and Bloomfield Avenue about 6:40 p.m. Jan. 11, authorities said.
As a result of the outage, several battery backup units -- which are installed at each residence to provide backup power in the case of a loss of the main power supply -- were also "blown out" and more than 50 Verizon Fios customers in the area completely lost service, a Verizon technician told Patch.
