Cerritos Sheriff's Deputies Foil Burglary Attempt at Trucking Business

The two suspects were arrested after trying to steal cargo and a truck at the business.

deputies recently arrested two suspects who tried to steal cargo and a semi-trailer truck from a Cerritos trucking company.

Deputies responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress at a Cerritos trucking company on July 21, and upon arrival, they detained two male suspects walking away from a semi-trailer truck.

According to a witness' account, the two suspects had cut open the seal to a loaded cargo trailer and looked at the contents. The suspects then broke into the attached semi-trailer truck and attempted to steal the truck along with the cargo.

Both suspects were arrested for attempted cargo theft and vehicle burglary, according to a city-issued statement. The names and ages of the two suspects were not released. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Cargo Theft detail is handling the follow-up investigation.
