Summer Solstice: Enjoy the Longest Day of the Year

This year the summer solstice is June 20. The date varies depending on when the sun reaches its farthest point north of the equator. The word "solstice" comes from the Latin words for sol (sun) and stitium (to stop) because the sun appears to stop at this time of year, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac.
